If your child is anything like mine, she’s absolutely smitten with the Frozen movie. Three years later and she still hasn’t gotten over it. Everything has to be Elsa-related – including her dollhouse.
When I saw that Mattel offered a Disney Frozen castle she didn’t have in her collection, I was intrigued. And one thing that she loved (me, too) about this dollhouse is that it’s design isn’t “cartoony.” This feels and looks like a real dollhouse, and the exterior features on the home are phenomenal.
Let’s take a closer look at what this dollhouse has to offer.
Disney Frozen Ice Castle Features
- 2-in-1 playset allows kids to play in both the castle and the ice palace
- Both sides have two floors
- Furniture and accessories included
- Accommodate dolls up to 12”
- Closes up for easy storage in between play sessions
Our Ice Palace Playset Review

There’s a lot to love about this Frozen dollhouse, and while it does require some assembly, putting this thing together isn’t rocket science. Mattel includes a number of accessories, so kids can play right out of the box.
Anna’s Castle and Elsa’s Palace
What sets this dollhouse apart from other Frozen-themed houses is that kids can enjoy the best of both worlds. One side of the playset is Elsa’s frozen palace, while the other side is Anna’s cozy castle.
Having both sides allows kids to bring their favorite film scenes to life – and to use their imaginations to play out scenes with all film characters.
Two Floors and Lots of Room
Each side of the playset has two floors, and there’s plenty of space to play. On Anna’s side, you have a vanity on the top floor, which lets her get ready in style. On the bottom floor is a cozy kitchenette complete with a lounge sofa and teapot. A set of brown stairs lead from the second floor, so dolls can move from one place to another with ease.
Anna’s side also boasts a beautifully decorated backdrop and towering golden doors.
Over on Elsa’s side, you have a white, wintery palace. The top floor features her icy throne and a fun snow slide for Olaf the snowman (figurine included) to slide down. Using the icy stairs, dolls can descend down to the main floor where her bed is – complete with linens.
Fold-Up Design
When play time is over, kids can fold up the second floor on each side, and close up the playset. For kids, this helps keep all the pieces organized and in one place. For parents, it helps keep the room tidy.
And when it’s closed up, the top of the icy palace turns into a mountain backdrop for Anna’s castle.
Accessories and Furniture Included
One thing you’ll appreciate about this dollhouse is that it comes with a multitude of accessories (10+), so kids can play right out of the box. The set even comes with an Olaf figurine for added fun.
The only thing this playset is missing is a pair of dolls. But it can accommodate dolls up to 12”, so you can simply use the dolls you already have.
Pros
- Foldable design for easy storage in between play sessions
- Durable design
- 2-in-1 design allows for imaginative play
- Furniture and accessories included
Cons
- Assembly takes some time
The only drawback with this playset is that assembly does take time. While not overly complicated, you’ll want to set aside about an hour to put this thing together.
Overall, Mattel’s Frozen Castle playset is a great option for any child who loves the Frozen movie. It’s unique in that you get both Anna’s castle and Elsa’s palace, and its durable design ensures that your child will get plenty of use out of it.
